San Francisco Libertarians Condemn Trump’s “King” Behavior

Trump AI video still

The Libertarian Party of San Francisco recently adopted a resolution titled “Consistently Exceeding Presidential Authority Above and Beyond the Actions of Joe Biden and Other Previous Presidents.”

The resolution lists a long series of abuses—from no-knock ICE raids to reckless tariffs, militarized displays, and disregard for peaceful protest—concluding that Donald Trump should be impeached and convicted for exceeding his authority and violating basic American principles of liberty.

That statement suddenly feels more relevant than ever.

Last weekend, President Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting himself flying a fighter jet labeled “King Trump” and dropping feces on peaceful “No Kings Day” protesters in Times Square.

Even musician Kenny Loggins, whose “Danger Zone” soundtrack was used without permission, asked that his recording be removed—saying it was created “with the sole purpose of dividing us.”

Millions took to the streets nationwide under the “No Kings” banner, rejecting the growing cult of personality in American politics. Instead of listening, Trump doubled down—and so did his allies.

House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed the protests as a “hate America rally,” while press secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed Democrats “cater to pro-Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens and violent criminals.” Such rhetoric is unworthy of any administration and antithetical to liberty itself.

The Libertarian Party, as anybody of sound mind, is outraged by this behavior. We share the San Francisco LP’s wish that Trump could be recalled or removed. And we extend an open hand to every Republican, Independent, or Democrat who is uncomfortable with authoritarian theatrics and state-sponsored bullying: you are welcome in the Libertarian Party.

Who’s Thinking About Running for Congress?

Interest in running for office is heating up… a little.
We need more people to put themselves out there—look who’s running the country and the state now!

🗳️ Joe Shea — Possible Candidate, 48th Congressional District

Joe Shea

Retired math teacher Joe Shea is considering a run for Congress in California’s 48th District—or whatever the new district lines may be if Proposition 50 passes.

His reason for running is simple: to give voters a principled alternative to the usual Democrat-Republican choices and to remind them that not every problem demands a new law.

“I want to raise the idea that many of our problems come from too much legislation, not too little,” Shea says. “Government has a purpose, but it’s overused — especially in areas like healthcare, family planning, personal use of medicines and drugs, and the unnecessary restrictions that make it harder to form businesses or build housing.”

Shea believes true reform starts by rolling back intrusive rules and restoring personal responsibility and voluntary cooperation — values long championed by the Libertarian Party.

🗳️ Dan Sheehy — Exploring a Run, 24th Congressional District

Dan Sheehy

Dan Sheehy, age 65, is exploring a run for Congress in California’s 24th District, where he would challenge incumbent Salud Carbajal.

A retired CPA with a lifelong career in the food and restaurant industry, Sheehy brings real-world business experience. He worked for Nestlé, Wolfgang Puck, and spent two decades at Panda Express, retiring as Vice President and Corporate Controller.

A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (BA Business Administration, 1984), Sheehy returned to his hometown of Santa Maria in 2024 after decades in the Los Angeles area.

“I’m motivated to run because I’m tired of the corruption and fiscal insanity at all levels of government,” Sheehy says. “California and the country need honest accounting and common sense again.”

Sheehy represents a growing number of Libertarians ready to challenge entrenched incumbents with experience, credibility, and principle.
