issues the following resolution:
Findings
-
Whereas
President Donald Trump has pursued a policy of terrorizing peaceful immigrants by sending armed and masked ICE agents into communities and workplaces and even arresting immigrants in the act of trying to comply with government paperwork; -
Whereas
he has attacked universities both in an attempt to discourage them from educating foreign students and for the purpose of influencing what they teach; -
Whereas
he has, despite campaign rhetoric opposing endless wars, deployed American armed forces against foreign interests abroad and held military parades in the style of authoritarian governments; -
Whereas
he has escalated the War on Drugs and used it as justification for foreign intervention, tariffs, and military action against foreign vessels; -
Whereas
he has deployed military resources, including National Guard units, into American cities even when governors and mayors stated such deployments were unnecessary and unwelcome; -
Whereas
he has threatened annexation of territories not under U.S. jurisdiction and refused to rule out the use of military force to achieve such aims, including against traditional allies such as Canada, Denmark, and Panama; -
Whereas
he has interfered with trade by imposing tariffs and other restrictions that increase prices, disrupt supply chains, and create economic uncertainty; -
Whereas
he has spoken about shrinking government while avoiding the largest areas of federal spending, pushing the nation deeper into debt; -
Whereas
instead of addressing inflation and high interest rates by encouraging private monetary alternatives such as precious metals and cryptocurrency, he has sought to politicize the Federal Reserve, risking severe long-term economic instability; -
Whereas
he has used the presidency to attack and ridicule peaceful Americans, including sexual minorities, deepening social division;
Resolution
Therefore, the Libertarian Party of California calls upon all members of Congress—regardless of political
affiliation—to enact legislation countering these actions and policies and to reduce the excessive power
of the presidency. No president, current or future, should wield authority that threatens the peace,
safety, economic stability, and personal freedom of the American people. Congress must reclaim its
constitutional role and end the dangerous concentration of power in the executive branch.
