Before getting into what happened at our convention, I want to invite all those interested to come to our upcoming quarterly Executive Committee Meeting to be held on Saturday, March 14th.The meeting will be held in San Jose at the Fish Market restaurant, located at 1007 Blossom Hill Rd, San Jose, California 95123, from 9:30 a.m. til 4:30 p.m.
At this meeting we will be electing the Platform Committee Coordinator, Bylaws Committee members, and Financial Standards Committee members. Over the President’s weekend, February 15th-17th the Libertarian Party of California held its 2020 Convention which was an amazing event! In addition to taking care of important Party business we had 13 of our Presidential Candidate attend our convention and have an opportunity to introduce themselves, Sorinne Ardeleanu, Ken Armstrong, Daniel Berhman, Lincoln Chafee, Erik Gerhardt, Phil Gray, Jacob Hornberger, Jo Jorgensen, Adam Kokesh, John Monds, James Ogle, Vermin Supreme and Mark Whitney. Each delegate was given tokens to select which six candidates would be in the debate and the candidates that ended up on stage (in the order of tokens received) were Jacob Hornberger, Adam Kokesh, Mark Whitney, Vermin Supreme, Lincoln Chafee and Jo Jorgensen.
On Monday morning there was a straw poll of all Presidential candidates and the winner was Jacob Hornberger with 30 votes, followed by Adam Kokesh with 19, Lincoln Chafee with 10, Jo Jorgensen with 8, Vermin Supreme with 6, Mark Whitney with 3 and Arvin Vohra, Sorinne Ardeleanu, and Jon Monds with 2 votes each.
We also selected the California Delegates to the National Convention in May, and for the first time in many years we filled our full delegation and have 50 elected alternates.
