🕯️ Trump or Newsom — Oy Vey! What’s a Libertarian to Do?
“Be Ungovernable.” That old Libertarian slogan reminds us we don’t take kindly to rulers — or to leaders who abuse power for more power.
Now we face two of them. Gavin Newsom has all but declared for President, while Donald Trump toys with an unconstitutional third term. Both are charismatic, ambitious, and absolutely certain they’re the answer to every problem. And both remind us why character still matters — especially when it’s missing.
Trump talks about freedom, but his record says otherwise: tariffs that punished consumers, massive debt, and using government power to reward allies and punish critics.
Newsom mirrors that arrogance — from personal scandals to policies like AB5 that crushed freelancers and small businesses, and emergency powers that never seem to end. His leadership has driven up costs and limited opportunity.
Different parties, same hubris.
Libertarians are far from perfect, but we stand for principle over personality. We don’t worship politicians; we demand honesty, humility, and accountability. That’s what sets us apart — and why the Libertarian Party matters.
If you still believe in character over control, make sure your membership is current — state and national.
The only party still standing on principle needs you standing with it.

🤳 Mirror Politics: Newsom’s Trump Impression
Is anyone else tired of Gavin Newsom copying Donald Trump’s social-media antics? From the dramatic posts to the self-referential swagger, it’s starting to feel like déjà vu in 280 characters.
Apparently, what passes for leadership these days is seeing who can out-Trump Trump online — complete with all-caps bravado and celebrity name-dropping.
Maybe California doesn’t need a Trump imitation. Maybe we just need grown-ups in government again.

💸 Trump’s Second Term and the Return of Sticky Inflation
Since returning to office in January 2025, President Trump’s economic policies have coincided with a “sticky” 3 percent inflation rate. Economists attribute much of this persistence to the administration’s new and expanded tariffs on imports from China, Canada, Mexico, and dozens of other countries.
According to the Yale Budget Lab, these tariffs are expected to cost the average U.S. household about $2,400 more in 2025. The Penn Wharton Budget Model projects that, over time, the policy could reduce GDP by 6% and wages by 5%.
Economists have dubbed this uncertainty the “Trump Turbulence Tax” — a drag on investment and hiring. Prices remain elevated, and volatility persists despite administration assurances that inflation is “under control.”
