How to Qualify as a Delegate at the LPCA Convention
To be a delegate at the 2022 Libertarian Party of California Convention, which will be held February 18-20, 2022 in Long Beach, you must be a Central Committee Member (CCM) for a minimum of 90 days at some point in the past.

Due to changes made in the bylaws at our last convention, to be a CCM you must be current in your dues, accepted the Certification, “I certify that I oppose the initiation of force to achieve political or social goals,” be registered to vote as a Libertarian if eligible, and reside in California unless you were a Life Member prior to May 17th, 2021.

If you are registered No Party Preference or registered with another political party you will not be able to be a voting delegate at the California convention, and you also will not be eligible to be elected as a National delegate to the 2022 convention in Reno. Please verify that you are properly registered so there are no surprises at the credentials desk in February.
You can check or change your voter registration at https://registertovote.ca.gov.

If you aren't already a member or have friends that want to join the party and be delegates at the California and National conventions, let them know they must join prior to midnight, November 21st! You can join the LPCA HERE.

At the 15th Annual Wine & Liberty Celebration hosted by the LP of Alameda County (LPAC), Michael Lema, Secretary of the LPAC and Alternate At-Large Member for the LPC ExComm, announced his run for the Hayward City Council in 2022.
At the event, former Vice-Presidential Candidate Spike Cohen was a special virtual guest speaker. During a live interview, Mr. Cohen gave Michael Lema support for his campaign, with the prospect of showing that libertarian principals do work at the local level. Mr. Cohen stressed the importance of getting more Libertarians elected to local offices as a vehicle for real change, as well as to help build a base of support for higher elected offices in the future.

Mr. Lema MC'ed the auction of the event, in which some auction items were generously donated to begin fundraising for his up and coming campaign. If you are interested in volunteering for Michael Lema's campaign and/or donating, you can visit: Lema4Hayward.us. Any and all support is welcome!

Free Hugs — Rallying Behind Peace

Zach Kincaid, Secretary of Yolo County, September 2021

The twentieth anniversary of 9/11 saw Libertarians across the country unite in support of a strong and simple message, End the Damn War and Bring The Troops Home.

Organizers hosted events ranging from rallies to marches to music and a range of speakers in several state capitols, large cities, and Washington, DC.

Members of county, state, and national Libertarian parties came together, partially celebrating the end of the occupation of Afghanistan, partially lamenting the losses of the last twenty years and the horrors that modern American foreign policy is still unleashing all over the world.

Unprecedented Membership Committee is Living Up to High Expectations

Tim "TJ" Ferreira, Executive Director, November 2021

From day one, they were already behind. The incoming 2021-2022 Membership Committee of the California Libertarian Party had the monumental goal of making sure California had enough national members to retain autonomy as a region by itself. This requires 10% of all national members residing in California on October 31.

To help achieve this goal, they did something different from every other Membership Committee before them: they elected co-chairs. With Mark Hinkle and Terry Miller at the helm, Matthew Butts, Daniel Hayes, Rajani Miatico, Brent Olsen, and George Reis worked with Mimi Robson to call, text, email, and mail thousands of Californians to convince them to renew or join the National Party.

Normally, in the year after a presidential election, membership numbers decline because members who joined as part of the campaign fail to renew. However, if some states are declining slower than California, and/or if some states are gaining, the ratio can drop below the required 10%.

Thanks to all who made this happen!

The next membership deadline is coming up in a few weeks. Make sure your California Membership is active on November 21 so you can attend the 2022 California Convention (https://ca.lp.org/convention) over President's Day Weekend in Long Beach as a voting delegate.
