Run for Statewide Office in 2026
Basic qualifications:
• U.S. citizen + registered CA voter
• No disqualifying felonies (bribery, theft of public money, perjury, etc.)
• Not already served 2 terms in that office
• Governor only: submit last 5 years of IRS tax returns (redacted & unredacted)
How to get on the ballot:
• File Form 501 (Candidate Intention) before fundraising
• Filing fee $4,918 (Gov) / $3,688 (Lt Gov) OR collect 6,000 signatures (Dec 19, 2025 – Feb 4, 2026)
• Gather 65–100 nomination signatures + file Declaration of Candidacy (Feb 9 – Mar 6, 2026)
• File Form 700 (SEI) by Mar 6, 2026
We’d also like as many candidates as possible for the State Assembly and State Senate.
Libertarians probably won’t make it past the top-two primary, but we still need candidates.
Special opportunity: We need to monitor races where only one person has filed.
In those districts, running a Libertarian as a write-in candidate can be the easiest path
to securing a place on the ballot. Even modest campaigns here can have a big impact.
