Message From The Chair – 12/22/16 – Official Convention Announcement (And Happy Holidays!)

It’s time to mark your calendars for April 28 to 30, 2017. The Libertarian Party of California State Convention will be held on those dates at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel, 2700 Mission College Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95054. This is near the San Jose Airport. This is the first LPC convention to be held in the Bay Area since 2009, so we are hoping for a great turnout. There will be excellent speakers and events, along with party business like the election of officers and Executive Committee members, bylaws and platform.

Many thanks to the Convention Committee for arranging these great accommodations. The committee consists of Mark Hinkle (chair), Boomer Shannon, Alex Appleby, and Bill Lopez.

Early bird packages for events and speakers will be posted shortly. There will be cost savings the earlier you reserve. Current members of the Libertarian Party of California are eligible to be convention delegates and vote on party business, as long as you are member for 30 days (any 30 days) prior to the convention. If you are already a member, you can also contribute to help us with ongoing party projects. And what better time is there to contribute than during the holiday season? To make a contribution to the Libertarian Party of California, go to:

You don’t have to wait until the state convention to hear some great Libertarian speakers. The Southern California Regional Conference will be held on Saturday, February 25, at Geezer’s, 12120 Telegraph Road, in Santa Fe Springs (Los Angeles County). Mark your calendars for this event as well, and more information will follow.

The Libertarian Party of California office has moved to Southern California, and is located at 825 S. Myrtle Avenue, in Monrovia (two cities east of Pasadena). More information will follow about how you can support the office as a volunteer.

We have several subcommittees working on various projects to grow the Libertarian Party of California. I already mentioned the Convention Committee (above). The Grow the LP Committee is working on ways to do just that. The members are Starchild (chair), Robert Imhoff, Dr. Kenneth Brent Olsen, and myself. We are having an open conference call on Wednesday, December 28, at 7:30 p.m. if you want to call in and make some suggestions. Just call the conference line of (626) 888-3307. No PIN is needed.

From myself, my family, and all of us on the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of California, I wish you and yours a very happy holiday season, and a great New Year!
