Paul Vallandigham has been a registered Libertarian for several decades. Motivated to become politically active as a result of the 1989 Roberti-Roos “modern musket” ban, he connected with other activists at the 1990 NRA annual convention in Anaheim, CA. Paul quickly rose through the ranks of the NRA Member’s Council of Orange, CA (the local NRA “chapter”), serving as newsletter writer/editor, secretary and president over the course of about 8 years. He also participated in protests at a local Roberti-Roos-promoting gun shop and at the Federal building in Los Angeles during the Clinton “modern musket” ban, walked precincts and did phone banking for state and local candidates and raised funds for youth shooting activities on Friends of NRA fundraising committees. Paul became a Libertarian activist during the 2016 presidential campaign, when he did phone banking for the Gary Johnson presidential campaign. It was through this connection that he met then-Mayor of Calimesa, CA, Jeff Hewitt at a Riverside County Libertarian Party(RCLP) kegger-party. Jeff invited Paul to attend an RCLP meeting and shortly thereafter, Paul found himself fully engaged in LP activism on a regular basis, including serving as Asst. Campaign Manager for Jeff Hewitt in 2018. In addition to being elected Libertarian Party of California (LPC) Secretary in April 2019, Paul currently serves as RCLP Treasurer, Chair of the LPC Volunteer Committee and as a staff member for Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Hewitt. He is currently an annual member of the national Libertarian Party and a Life Member of the LPC. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health and is a retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker (psychotherapist).
