California Libertarians Applaud Today’s Appeals Court Ruling in Favor of Home-School Families
PANORAMA CITY, Calif. — The Chair of the Libertarian Party of California issued a statement regarding today’s appeals court ruling that parents do not have to possess a teaching credential in order to legally home school their children. Kevin Takenaga, chair of the Libertarian Party of California:
"We acknowledge that even in this day and age, sometimes the court may acknowledge a mistake and undo an unjust ruling. We would like to see this happen more often.
"The recent appellate court ruling affirms the constitutional choice parents have to determine the best course of education for their children. Home schooling is a viable, thriving educational opportunity that parents can make in California, and one that the Libertarian Party of California encourages parents to consider.
"The court's ruling, at least temporarily, stops the war of the State on home schoolers and their way of life. The Libertarian Party of California continues to represent those that want to see that their liberties are upheld. After all, who better to make the choice for a child than the child’s own parents?"
