Corruption can be worst on the local level of government. Last month a former financial director of the San Mateo Mosquito and Vector Control District was convicted of embezzling over $450,000 through bonuses and fraudulent time off. Last November, a former San Mateo County employee was convicted for three felony theft charges, after stealing from the estates of deceased county residents. In 2012, the superintendent of the Portola Valley Elementary School District was convicted of billing the district over $100,000 for work on his home.
The Libertarian Party of San Mateo County will host an event to engage local residents and Libertarian Party members about the issue of corruption in local government, and what you can do about it.Corruption in San Mateo County
