January 16, 2012 – Libertarians who want to run for California public offices should file now and get their local Libertarian Party volunteers to help them collect signatures in lieu of filing fees.
The deadline to submit signatures, file all other paperwork, and pay the filing fee is March 9th, but candidates should plan to submit their signatures two weeks before that deadline. That way, if any signatures are ruled invalid, the candidate can have extra days to replace them.
Since we’re more than halfway through January, there’s barely more than a month for candidates to collect their signatures and complete their filing in advance of the March 9th deadline.
Candidates can find their local Libertarian Party by searching the Web, or by calling the state Party’s office at (818) 782-8400.
